With puff pastry and filo dough at hand, practically anything is possible. However, not many people have the time or inclination to make their own. Though both doughs are different, they are equally time-consuming to make, and arguably not as good as the factory-made varieties. Our 100% butter puff pastry saves you time and always renders delicious, consistent results. To get the best possible flavor and none of that greasy residue left behind by pastries made with shortening, we were careful to select an all-butter pastry. This ensures that your products are not only delicious and full of flavor but also healthier. Sold near each other in the frozen food section, occasionally puff pastry and filo can be mistaken for one another. However, they remain very different doughs. Filo is a papery-thin lean dough, that is rolled out into impossibly thin sheets and then cut down to size for use. Popular for lots of delicious dishes like the spinach stuffed spanakopita, or the pistachio laden baklava, filo also makes great edible serving cups like the ones we carry! Formed into individual servings, once filled, they are the ideal appetizer or dessert. Puff pastry, on the other hand, is very rich and requires a lot of butter. Layers of butter and dough are rolled out together and folded. Once chilled, the whole process is repeated until hundreds of layers have been formed. These layers cause the separation of dough during baking and give you that wonderful shattering texture of a good croissant or danish.
