Rumored to have first been introduced to the new world via the Spanish conquistador Hernando DeSoto in 1539, they were first brought to Florida and rapidly spread outward. True omnivores wild boar will eat almost anything foraging in the underbrush with their tusks and digging up all manner of edibles, from roots and tubers to worms and acorns. Their voracious appetite, curious palette, and widely ranging diet give boar meat a singularly delicious taste. Gourmet Wholesaler is proud to source all our wild boar from Broadleaf meats who partner with trappers and hunters in areas of the country where the boar are plentiful. This sustainable method is exceptionally humane and allows the boar to live a happy healthy life before a quick and efficient slaughtering process. After capture, the boars are held for at least 24 hours to give them time to settle and their lactic acid supplies to replenish. This ensures the best tasting meat with the wonderful texture you expect.
